Pilot whale
The map shows the distribution of pilot whales. Pilot Whale (Globicephala melas) belong to the dolphin family (Delphinidae) and is thus a toothed whale. Pilot whales seem to thrive best in deep water. The species has a sirkumantarktisk distribution in the southern hemisphere but the species is also found in temperate and polar regions of the North Atlantic and in the western half of the Mediterranean and Black Sea. Previously, the species can also be found west of the North Pacific.
