MarineTerrainWMS
The map service features land forms on the sea floor. Land forms formed under the influence of ice, pockmarks formed by seepage of gas or liquid from the underlying sediments/bedrock and slide scarps formed by slope failures, which are available from the map service, are interpreted on the basis of detailed bathymetry and sediment data. In addition, the service include depth information with depth contours, shaded relief in gray scale and shaded bathymetry in blue scale (terrain) from the detailed mapped areas in the coastal zone.

The service is a WMS service built on the MapServer platform, v.7. A number WMS-layers of landforms on the seabed are published in the WMS-sercice. The data source is a postgres database that is continuously updated with new interpretation data as these become quality-checked and available to the viewing service. The interpretation of landforms is based on detailed depth data, as well as bottom reflectivity data and sediment samples. In addition to marine geological interpretations, the terrain model is shown in grayscale (hillshade), which is based on bathymetry data in different resolutions. The shillshade layers are based on ready-made tiff files and do not contain depth information.
