Trigonometric points – triangulation points
Triangulation points are trigonometric points specified in EUREF89 with directional and distance measurement. Triangulation points are less accurate than **Stamnett** and **Landsnett** points and are not recommended where there are stringent accuracy requirements. Triangulation points can also be found in areas far away from roads. Many of the triangulation points in the lowlands are unsuitable for GNSS surveying.

**Stamnett** and **Landsnett** points are the most accurate trigonometric points, and their use for all purposes is recommended. These are usually at a reasonable distance away from roads. Triangulation points are less accurate are not recommended where there are stringent accuracy requirements. Triangulation points can also be found in areas far away from roads. Many of the triangulation points in the lowlands are unsuitable for GNSS surveying.
The elevation trig points are very well defined in terms of elevation by means of precision levelling, but in many cases the ground plan coordinates are very imprecise. Many elevation trig points close to roads have unfortunately been lost.
