  • The dataset provides an overview of the dominant sedimentation environment in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes that prevail on and near the seabed in terms of erosion, transport and deposition of sediments. Based on information about the sedimentatary environment, other thematic maps can be developed, such as bottom currents, sediment transport, pollution distribution, etc.

  • This data set contains the seabed sediments on the upper part of the bottom of the sea (upper 0-50 cm of the seabed), classified after genesis. The data set covers coastal areas in mapped areas in detailed scale. Detailing level vary between data from different mapping projects.

  • Accumulation basins are the natural depressions on the sea floor with very weak bottom currents and prevailingly fine grained sediments. The renewal of bottom water in natural depressions on the seafloor my be so slow, that input of extra organic matter (f.ex. from fish farms) may result in reducing conditions.
