StatBank is updated at 05:00 and 11:30 (CET), during which time the tables are temporarily unavailable for up to five minutes. Figures which are being revised emerge as ‘0’ or ‘:’ between 05:00 and 08:00.

Place names for geographical details based on the map series Norway 1:50,000, economic maps, nautical charts and naming decisions made pursuant to the Act on place names of 18 May 1990, no. 111. Each name has information on the language/linguistic form, position (point) coordinates, municipal affiliation, feature code for name type, decision type, date of registration of name decision and the context in which the name is used.

  • The Norwegian Coastal Administration administers a system of navigation guidance devices in Norway. This system comprises devices run by the Norwegian Coastal Administration, devices run by municipal ports and private devices run by others. Navigation guidance devices provide visual and electronic signals that are designed to assist with the navigation process for cautious seafarers. However, the purpose is not to make it possible for seafarers to identify every underwater rock or shallows or obstacles for shipping in Norwegian waters that can otherwise be navigated by ships.
