  • The municipal emergency response is based on risk assessments from normal enterprise in the municipality. Norway's municipalities are arranged into 34 emergency response regions. An Intermunicipal committee for acute contamination (IUA) in each region meets the requirement to maintain emergency response and take action. This intermunicipal emergency response is dimensioned to deal with smaller, acute discharges. Contamination incidents that are or develop into incidents that are too major for an IUA to deal with will be taken over by the Norwegian Coastal Administration ("Governmental action").
