The dataset provides an overview of the dominant sedimentation environment in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes that prevail on and near the seabed in terms of erosion, transport and deposition of sediments. Based on information about the sedimentatary environment, other thematic maps can be developed, such as bottom currents, sediment transport, pollution distribution, etc.

This data set contains the seabed sediments on the upper part of the bottom of the sea (upper 0-50 cm of the seabed), classified after genesis. The data set covers coastal areas in mapped areas in detailed scale. Detailing level vary between data from different mapping projects.
-
The map layer provides an overview of stocks of organic carbon (OC) in the top 10cm of seabed sediments in Stavanger Municipality. Stocks of OC are measured in kilograms of carbon per square metre (kg/m2) and are estimated with spatial prediction methods.
-
Data coverage for thematic maps about organic carbon in seabed sediments, in the small coastal project areas. Maps for Stavanger Municipality were created in 2024.
-
The map layer provides an overview of stocks of labile organic carbon (LOC) in the top 10cm of seabed sediments in Stavanger Municipality. Stocks of LOC are measured in kilograms of carbon per square metre (kg/m2) and are estimated with spatial prediction methods.
-
The map layer provides an overview of accumulation rates of organic carbon (OCAR) in the top 10cm of seabed sediments in Stavanger Municipality. Organic carbon accumulation rates are measured in grams of carbon per square metre and year (g/m2/yr) and are calculated from measured mass accumulation rates and the content of organic carbon.

The map layer provides an overview of the dominant sedimentation environment in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes that prevail on and near the seabed in terms of deposition, transport and erosion of sediments. The map has been digitized for use at a scales of about 1:20 000 (detailed).

This WMS map layer shows selected areas from the dataset "Seabed sediments (grain size), detailed" and indicates where fine sediments are likely to accumulate due to weak bottom currents. Such areas are typically dominated by silty and/or clayey and may include areas with fine-grained sediment deposited on top of coarser material. The map layer is intended for use at map scales 1:10 000 – 1:50 000.
