Sedimentary environment describes processes that presently influence the seabed with respect to erosion, sediment transport and sediment deposition. The dataset series comprise two datasets: Sedimentary environment, detailed, and Sedimentary environment, regional. The two individual datasets are digitized in different scales and have different data coverage.
-
Sediment waves on the sea floor. The data set is digitized on the basis of detailed bathymetry / shaded relief map.
-
The dataset provides an overview of the dominant sedimentation environment in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes that prevail on and near the seabed in terms of erosion, transport and deposition of sediments. Based on information about the sedimentatary environment, other thematic maps can be developed, such as bottom currents, sediment transport, pollution distribution, etc.
-
The map layer provides an overview of the dominant sedimentation environment in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes that prevail on and near the seabed in terms of deposition, transport and erosion of sediments. The map has been digitized for use at a scales of about 1:20 000 (detailed).
-
Sediment wave field on the sea floor. The data set is digitized on the basis of detailed bathymetry / shaded relief map.
-
The dataset provides an overview of dominant sedimentary environments in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes acting on and near the seabed in terms of deposition, transportation and erosion of sediments. Marine sedimentary environment, regional is one of the products of the MAREANO-program and covers the mapped marine areas on the Norwegian continental shelf in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea.
-
Seabed sediments and sedimentary environment. The map service presents the grain size composition, relative hardness and the genesis of the of the seabed sediments in Norwegian marine areas. The thickness of Quaternary sediments on the Norwegian Shelf and the thickness of the Holocene sediments in the Skagerrak are also presented.
-
This data set contains the seabed sediments on the upper part of the bottom of the sea (upper 0-50 cm of the seabed), classified after genesis. The data set covers coastal areas in mapped areas in detailed scale. Detailing level vary between data from different mapping projects.
-
The map layer provides an overview of the dominant sedimentary environment in the mapped area. This is an interpretation of the processes that prevail on and near the seafloor in terms of accumulation, transport and erosion of sediments. The map is digitized for use at scales ca 1:100 000 (regional).
-
Data set shows the distribution of seabed sediments classified by genesis (Quaternary sediments). The data cover parts of the Norwegian continental shelf in Barents Sea, Norwegian Sea, North Sea and Skagerrak.
