The dataset represents 10 years averaged (2013-2022) values of salinity at the surface, water masses (intervals for 5m, 15m, 30m, 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m and 250m), as well as at the seabed. Bottom salinity is derived from a ten-year simulation with a three-dimensional, hydrodynamic current model. For more info, see the product sheet. For more information, please see the product sheet. Salinity is given in parts per thousand.

The dataset originates from 10 years' average (2013-2022) values of sea temperature in the surface, the water masses (intervals for 5m, 15m, 30m, 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m and 250m), as well as at the seabed. The distance from the seabed with the current model setup ranges from a few cm in shallow water and up to 1.5m when the total depth is 100m or more. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. The dataset is available as WMS and WCS services, as well as for download via the Institute of Marine Research's Geoserver https://kart.hi.no/data - select Layer preview and search for the dataset for more download options. The coastal model NorKyst-800 is a calculation model that simulates, among other things, current, salinity and temperature with 800 meter spatial resolution, in several vertical levels and with high resolution in time for the entire Norwegian coast, based on the model system ROMS (Regional Ocean Modeling System, http://myroms.org). NorKyst-800 has been developed by the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research in collaboration with the Meteorological Institute and Niva (https://brage.bibsys.no/xmlui/handle/11250/116053).

The data set originates from 10 years' average values (2013-2022) of current direction and speed at the surface, respectively, in the water masses (intervals for 5m, 15m, 30m, 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m and 250m), as well as at the seabed. The distance from the seabed with the current model setup ranges from a few cm in shallow water and up to 1.5m when the total depth is 100m or more.
